First edition sketchbooks with open binding. First edition sketchbooks with open binding. The cover features the painting «Blooming Almond Branches» by one of the most respected world artists, Vincent van Gogh. This painting has a special history. On January 31, 1890, Theo van Gogh wrote to Vincent about the birth of his son, who was named after his uncle. The great artist immediately took up the task of creating a painting that he intended to give to his younger brother. The subject of the painting was chosen by Vincent to symbolically depict the beginning of a new life. Almond branches begin to bloom very early and are a harbinger of spring, which is why they were chosen. Blooming trees appear repeatedly in the artist's paintings, but the composition «Blooming Almond Branches» is unusual for van Gogh's work. It should be noted that van Gogh used a limited set of colors and did not use the usual yellow color. The sharp contours and arrangement of the branches are influenced by Japanese painting, which van Gogh became familiar with in Paris. In a letter to his brother, van Gogh wrote that this was his first work that he was truly proud of. The cream-colored, non-lined pages are perfect for liners, pencils and pens. The sketchbooks open perfectly at 180 degrees and do not close on their own due to the open binding. High-quality stitching and gluing allow them to withstand even extreme loads, and the cover's protective coating will extend the life of your sketchbook. The set includes a lined inner sheet with a grid and lines for writing, drawing graphs, tables, precise models, etc. Manuscript sketchbooks are an excellent tool for artists, designers, programmers, managers, as well as a fashionable accessory that can inspire creative feats.
